Aizawl, Jul 20 : The torch of Commonwealth Games 2010, popularly known as Queen's Baton, would arrive Aizwal, Mizoram on July 29 and stay overnight.
"It will stay here before being taken to Kolkata," Zoliana Royte, secretary general of Mizoram Olympic Association and director of state sports and youth services department.
Addressing a press conference here, Royte said Queen's Baton would be brought to Lengpui Airport near here by Air-India IC 213 flight accompanied by 9-member Queen Baton Relay (QBR) team.
He would receive it at the airport and hand over to Vanhela Pachuau, state chief secretary and chairman of QBR Reception Committee.
The baton would be taken in a procession to many places in the city and a function would be held at Vanapa Hall here where the state Chief Minister and
president of Mizoram Olympic Association would be the chief guest, he said.
Mizoram would send a 80-member cultural troupe to perform 'Cheraw' known outside the state as bamboo dance at the opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
