Dimapur, May 16 : Dimapur police brought back the six minor girls rescued by Assam Police at Moranhut, Sivasagar district Assam on May 13 evening from Dibrugarh-Bangalore Express and arrived Dimapur Saturday at around 6.45 a.m. They were then reunited with their parents at around 8.30 p.m. Saturday.
According to one of the victims, on May 13 at around 1 p.m. near St.Jude’s School, a muslim woman, yet to be identified, offered them ‘laddus’ saying they were brought from a mandir.After eating the laddus, the victims reportedly could not recollect what happened next.
Later after regaining consciousness, one of the girls said as they were still in school uniform, the woman gave them second hand clothes and asked them to change after boarding the Dibrugarh-Bangalore Express. The train leaves Dimapur at around 1.30 p.m.
While in the train, it was reported that another woman passenger suspecting something wrong, called her brother and asked him to inform the police.
On Arrival at Moranhut, Assam Police swung into action and rescued all the girls the same evening, while the woman who took them, reportedly vanished.
West Police station O.C. Inspector Velsoupe Chakhesand said a four member-team led by S.I,Temsu,constables Inakhe and Women Cell S.I.Alila and constable Arenal brought back the girls Saturday.
The rescued victims were identified by police as: Sabnam Khatoon (11) daughter of late Yusuf Rohman of Balizan village, under Khatkhati PS, Karibianglong district, Assam; Salma Begam (11 ½) daughter of Md. Akbar Ali, Khan of Balizan village, Khatkhati PS, Karibianglong district, Assam; Salma Begam (8) daughter of Md. Balu Khan, resident of Khermahal colony, Dimapur Nagaland; Sapifa Khatoon (10) daughter of Abdul Rahim of Balizan village, under Khatkhati PS, Karibianglong district, Assam; Azufa Khatoon alias Moina (11) daughter of Abdul Rahim Balizan village, under Khatkhati PS, Karibianglong district, Assam and Jyotsna Begam (12) daughter of Md. Abdul Jalil of Balizan village, under Khatkhati PS, Karibianglong district, Assam.
