Guwahati, Feb 21 : The Assam government today brought in all the jailed ULFA leaders under one roof to chalk out the process for talks and future strategy for the peace process.
Official sources said two of the seven top leaders - 'vice-president' Pradeep Gogoi and 'publicity secretary' Mithinga Daimary - will be released on bail on Wednesday.
ULFA political adviser Bhimkanta Buragohain was brought from Tezpur jail to the Guwahati Central jail this morning where all the jailed top leaders of the ULFA were lodged.
Those inside the prison are 'Chairman' Aurobindo Rajkhowa, Sasha Chaudhury, Chitrabon Hazarika, Praanti Phukan and Raju Barua.
Except ULFA 'Commander-in-Chief' Paresh Barua, who is believed to be on the China-Myanmar border, all top leadership are in Guwahati jail.
The government has already started the Track-II negotiation process as majority of the jailed leaders are in favour of starting the peace process but fearful of retaliatory attacks by Paresh Barua.
Hope for the peace process brightens in Assam as the government is allowing the ULFA leaders to go out of jail through normal legal process while setting up the desk for the peace process.
The first to go out of jail will be ULFA 'vice-chairman' Pradeep Gogoi and 'publicity secretary' Mithinga Daimary who will be released by the middle of next week.
Already the local court had given Mr Gogoi conditional bail and it was hailed by all sections as the government did not oppose the petition. Mr Gogoi is expected to be the missing link between the government and the ULFA as he is personally keen for immediate starting of the talk process.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said efforts were on to rope in ULFA 'Commander-in-Chief' Paresh Barua in the process for a negotiated settlement of the 31-year-old ULFA insurgency.
