Kokrajhar, Jan. 23: Security personnel arrested an Ulfa linkman, Hareswar Das, from Diajiri in Kokrajhar last night. Two hand grenades were found on him. ased on his confession, police arrested two more persons, Md Sabjal Ali and Md Kazia Akhan, from Kauniabhasa in the district. A handmade pistol and six rounds of ammunition were recovered from them.

IED found

Dhubri: An improvised explosive device was recovered from a Dhubri-bound bus by troops of the 21 Jat Regiment based at Panbari during a routine check on Thursday night. It was defused by a bomb squad.

Smuggler held

Dhubri: BSF personnel apprehended a cattle smuggler on Friday during an ongoing anti-infiltration drive. A resident of Ghewamri in Dhubri, Mujbir was caught along with the cattle.

Literary award

Kokrajhar: The Bodoland Territorial Council on Friday conferred the Promode Chandra Brahma literary award on Bodo novelist Chittaranjan Machahary for his contribution of Bodo literature. The award carries Rs 1 lakh, along with a citation.
